Today the bite was slower from what reports I heard, Some were still out when I closed so I don’t know for sure, but pictures sent in to me were not like yesterday.
I opened roads to the Banana, Tundra and to both sides of East Bar, (to some it’s called the DogBone) with the Land Cruiser. For us it is 3 miles out and we have gone there for over 40 years. Some of the ice around the Banana is pretty rough but nothing that my disc won’t take care of. It’s just going to take some extra work to establish what I like to call a road. But for now we are there. Ice depths out there range from 10″- 12″ with some areas more where it is rough.
We have our smaller “basic” rentals out and all are rented this weekend except for a couple. Renters will need a vehicle under 4000 lbs weight if they want to drive out. Otherwise they will be shuttled and will need an ATV to have out there in case someone needs to get to shore while they are there. Single axle wheelhouses around 16ft. can be pulled out with an ATV, or SxS . Portable fishermen can bring a trailer pulled by an ATV or SxS if they are going out, especially to the Banana Reef, Tundra and East Bar. Our main goal is to keep things going out around or under 4000lbs. Tomorrow I will start pulling from the list of permanents. lightest first if you called and are on it. Saturday and Sunday I will be establishing more roads thru the rough ice and disking them to smooth them out. Monday I will resume pulling more.
That’s the plan for the weekend.
