Another year in the books. And what a year it was…. Now we start a New Year of with another possible snowstorm.  I’m thinking we are on the northern edge of it.  We don’t need any more snow out there on the ice.  It’s really is not thick enough in some areas to support the weight of it along with vehicle traffic.  And it just hasn’t been cold enough to make more lately. Not much we can do to change it, so we do what we can do.

Anglers yesterday did for the most part pretty good. Those venturing out to deeper water yesterday actually didn’t do as well as the 12-16′ areas.  There are a lot of nice sized Perch in closer, Along with Perch there are a lot of small Walleye mixed and an occasional slot.  Northern Pike are definitely around  in those areas also. Yesterday I heard reports of 4 line breakers in the rentals. Overnight some over the slot Walleye were already reported from the rentals as they were leaving.

Our plans here are to wait out the snow, see how much we get and what it does to the ice before we make a decision about pulling more out.  I’ll keep working on getting roads to more areas established so when and if the time comes we can.  Currently we are only allowing vehicles under 5000 GVW out our access until the weather turns colder and starts making ice.  Otherwise it’s ATV’s/snowmobiles, SxS and portables.

Happy New year!
