With the cold weather over the weekend, the bite was slow Friday thru Saturday. Saturday night and Sunday, the bite picked up for most. Small Walleye dominated the bite with a few “keepers” reported. Some rentals C/R 20 or more small Walleye. Sunday evening, the bite picked up even more, with some good reports from the few out there. There are Tullibee out in our Tullibee Hole. One of our rentals went portabling Saturday to different areas, ended up there in the afternoon, and had activity there until dark. Many reported seeing larger Walleye on their cameras, but had a hard time getting them to bite.
I am going to move some more rentals to newer spots through the week for the weekend, as the bite is improving in some areas. With the stable weather pattern over the next few days, it’s going to get better. I’m looking forward to a pretty good weekend for both the weather and the bite.
With the cold weather, we are making ice, and depths range from 21″ -24″. There are no restrictions on wheelhouse rigs, except that 1-ton and large tandems will not cross the pressure ridge. It has been moving daily, either cracking open or pushing shut, depending on temperatures.
