Yesterday afternoon when the sun came out and overnight for those that stayed in the rentals was good fishing. One rental during the afternoon from 1:00pm until 5:00pm when they left had a pail of nice Perch in the 10-12″ range and  C/R’d 5 Walleye.  Another rental overnight C/R’d 7 Walleye from the slot up to 26″.  With no snow cover and very little commotion on the ice like there would normally be is definitely helping the bite.

Today looks like our “warmest” day and so far the ice is somewhat holding it’s own.  As long as it keeps it dropping below freezing at night. Although, the clear dark ice is definitely getting “softer” when we drill to test thickness.

We will continue on with our smaller rentals.  All customers will need an ATV with in case of an emergency if someone has to get to shore. We will shuttle gear to and from for rental customers as needed.  Small wheelhouses, (14ft or under) pulled by ATV, or small SxS’s can go.   Portables will be ATV, preferably with a small trailer to pull their gear as we have lost all our snow in parking areas.  There will be no vehicle traffic except our Ranger’s for our rentals, out our access thru the weekend or until the weather turns colder. With our average ice thickness of 15″-16″ in the of areas we go to and becoming softer with these warm temps, I do not want the extra weight of pickups and wheelhouses running on it.

Overnight the bite is the best, so rent a house while they are available or “ice camp” with your portable.

Keep a Tight Line!
