Yesterday we had two rentals out until the late afternoon when the snow started. Lots of Perch action , but slow for the Walleye. Northern Pike are definitely in the area as one rental had three line breakers.
I spent the day before the snow started widening what roads I do have in prep for the upcoming snow. We received about 4″ last night and are forecasted another 4″-8″ today so we are staying off the lake until Thursday and go from there.
So far we have roads to the NE side of Gull, NW side of Popes, SW side of Spider, SE side of the Graveyard, and a road to the NW corner of the Tundra. There is no road to the Banana Reef, East Spider Reef, NW side of Graveyard. The East side of Popes will be inaccessible for some time as the entire area has flooded and slushed out and until it freezes we cant get there. The same problem exists on the Graveyard, There is areas that have flooded and froze and areas that are still flooding. Now with the new snow it will be hard to tell what is and isn’t until your out on it. With no sub-zero cold weather the ice is not making much other than what has flooded and what ice has been cleared, and the new snow is just going to insulate it more.
Still planning on getting going out there, but houses are going to be put where we have good ice. Not necessarily the spot on the spot like we’re used to. Who knows… maybe we will find some new spots we never thought of… 😉
