We received a little more snow overnight, but not really enough to slow down what freezing is going on. It will just make it a little more difficult to identify and check the thinner new ice areas. The next two to three days we will be out and doing alot of checking of ice depths in the areas we go to, mark and stake paths that will eventually be our roads and getting ready to open the access for portable fishermen. I’m hoping we will find enough so they can bring ATV’s and Snowmobiles to make things a little easier to get out there and back.
As I posted on Facebook on our resort page yesterday, we will be planning (if all goes well) to open our access on Wednesday/Thursday depending on what we find out there the next two days. If it’s a go, we will have our large parking area available for wheelhouse camping at N/C, (just pay the daily access fee.) and all our permanent customers can stay over in their houses on shore if they wish. So keep watching the report.
This year so far has been a difficult one to say the least. To be out there over two weeks ago on 5-8 inches of ice and planning on getting things going and then watch the majority of it go away with the rain over Christmas was frustrating. Since the refreeze there is alot of very inconsistent depths out on the main lake and where we go is going to make things spooky for awhile until we see enough cold weather to even things out. If we get a bunch of snow between now and then it might not ever even out. Only time will tell.
