Mille Lacs Ice Fishing Report – Conditions & Updates

January 9th, 2026

A few fishermen overnight did well with Walleye in the slot.  Most were in 14″ to 18″ of water. 24″-26″ seemed to be a good depth also.

I am moving some rental houses out to the Tundra and Banana Reefs over the weekend and will move others as time goes on. We have roads to the Gravel Bars for those who want to go. Most that were out there yesterday mostly caught under the slot Walleye and didn’t stay there too long, from what reports I heard. But it might be more of a night bite for the larger ones.

The temps are going to remain relatively calm through Sunday, then a quick two-day warm-up again before returning to more normal levels and dropping to sub-zero temps over the following weekend.  We should make some more ice then.

We have a pressure ridge that we have ramps on to cross over to access the Tundra, Banana, and Gravel.  You must check in at the office for more information on what vehicles and wheelhouses can cross.
