March 17th, 2023

After the snow and wind we received yesterday and today I have decide to permanently close our access for the season.  We received 6″ of snow very strong NW winds which blew the snow our direction.  What roads I did have are now only distinguishable by the  stakes on the one side of them.

As the snow melts, and water goes down we will be going out and collecting all the road stakes, road signs and scour the rest of the fishing areas we go to for anything that didn’t get picked up when the houses came off.  Sounds like next week the melting process will finally start out there.  With all the snow on the ice there is going to be alot of water for awhile, but it will find it’s way thru the ice as time goes.

This season was a tough one, and Cindy, myself and the crew want to thank our customers for their patience in waiting to get out on the ice, their patronage while we were out there and understanding the situation the weather and ice conditions put us in this season.  It started out looking like we were going to have a early start and a 10-11 week season and turned out to be our shortest time on the ice in quite a few years.  (5-6 weeks).   I’m not going to start talking “climate change” as I have seen this happen long before anyone was talking about it.  It was just one of those years.  The newly restored Barn/office with bathrooms/showers was a hit for those that seen it, and next year we will be adding some new things there.

I will be posting occasionally through the summer as Cindy and I are finishing building a new home off the lake and will be moving there sometime in April/May.  My son Jeremy has purchased our home on the hill at the lake and some of the land, but I’m keeping the Red House and Ice Fishing business and the land with that so not to worry….  I’m not going anywhere and we’ll keep on rolling….

Keep a Tight Line until next time!
