March 9th, 2025

Today will be our last vehicle and wheelhouse traffic day through our access. The sun and warm temperatures over the previous few days have softened the top few inches of ice. Fishermen reported that the first 4-6 inches of ice are partially honeycombed, and then they hit 24″ plus of good, hard ice.  But with the top getting soft in the afternoons, vehicles will have a rough time getting off the ice in the afternoons.

The bite for Perch remains tough. Not that there weren’t biting, but everywhere most went the bottom was loaded with smalls, with very few keepers caught. However, the Northern Pike showed signs of moving back in with a 39″ C/R yesterday and this morning a 40″ C/R.

From here on out fishermen will need to bring an ATV. I have a gravel area on the north end of our storage lot for about 10 trucks and trailers. Anyone coming must call the day before so we know who and when you are coming, as we will be open a day at a time with the changing ice conditions.. I will be in our truck shop working most of the week and have a sign on the office door when I am there.

These last days of March might still have some good fishing for the Pike guys..
