To those trying to contact us by phone. Our phone service has switched from SCI Cable to Midco. A lot has changed, and we are finally getting some of it straightened out. They tried to bill us for a third line at our residence at business rates (something SCI never did), without telling us we could access our business phone via our cell phones. (a service they included but did not let us know until I found out about it) So I am not too pleased with them, to say the least. Meanwhile, we have had nothing but phone problems with our business line at 320-676-8740. But tomorrow we are hoping this will get straightened out. (So call us Tuesday to see if it is… lol!)

Meanwhile, we are starting to get things ready for the winter season. We are going to have a new 10’x18′ four-person deluxe rental this year added to the rest. I normally build our own, but when this one came up for sale, I bought it. It has a special meaning to me. It’s fully refurbished, inside and out, and is a house Kent Hrbek and Whitey Mogren built over 25 years ago. The current owner bought it from Kent’s brother three years ago and completely redid the house. It’s like brand new and has a unique history. I’m hoping to get the two “old guys ” up to fish in it again this year… we’ll see.. They were both customers 25 years ago for many years..

Once we get our phone lines going again, I’m hoping we’ll get back to business. thanks for your patience.

Today marks the first day of me entering on our new ice/Fishing Report page. It is a little different posting on it, and I’ll learn as I go with a little help from a dear friend.

Anyways, It’s time to start getting things in order for the upcoming season. It will be Lyback’s Ice Fishings 72nd “official” year on the ice. There were a few years before that, but it wasn’t consistent.

I worked on the Seasonal letters and rate sheets today, will be updating the current address lists, and have everything in the mail, so most should be receiving their letters shortly after September 1st. With the way the mail is these days, we’ll see. Check the postmark date and see how long it takes.

If you haven’t yet, check out the new website. It’s rearranged, simpler to navigate, and has a history page that we didn’t have before. Which brings to mind that, since we have so many permanent customers who have been with us for 40 years or more, it would be nice if some of them who have old pictures would share them. Let me know; I would be happy to put them up.

As the weather turns, I will post occasionally.

Yesterday we received 4-5 inches of snow.  I waited for the predicted winds to pick up but they didn’t until late afternoon and they didn’t gust as forecasted so there was little or no drifting. About 8 groups went out throughout the day but I only heard from a couple when they came in. Most action was later in the day towards. evening.

Ice depths are 8-10 inches and with this snow on top now it will slow down in the ice making dept. It’s just not enough yet to really get going. so we will remain portable, ATV, Snowmobiles and Side by Sides.  If you have a small wheel house weighing under 2500 lbs that you can pull with your ATV it can go.  Everything else stays on shore.  We a have plenty of room for parking, “Wheelhouse” camping .  That’s the way we will be running until further notice.

Today we will be continuing on finding ways thru the rough ice to reefs farther out for the future.    We will be Closed on Friday December 24th for Christmas Eve as that is when my family celebrates Christmas.  I don’t expect much traffic on Christmas Day but we will be open.

    Keep a Tight Line!     Eddy
