Yesterday I widened roads, open spots for houses. I didn’t pull any more houses yesterday and won’t until after we see what the winds do today. We received maybe an inch or so of snow overnight but with what’s out there already (8″-12″), the forcasted 25-35 mph winds are going to make it difficult to see. The winds are already starting as I write this am from the NE, but it sounds like it’s going to switch NW when it really picks up.
The fishing was fair from most reports. It seemed like almost everyone caught Walleye, but most were under the slot and many small ones were reported. Pictures were sent in of a few “keepers”. Some rentals reported some keepable Perch.
After the wind today and we get roads back and shape we will continue pulling permanents on the list along with rentals that are reserved. We will allow vehicles weighing under 7000lbs curb weight on the ice. Single axle wheelhouses (that have paid the seasonal rate) weighing under 4000lbs can go if pulled with Vehicle that weighs under 5500lbs with chains. (I guarantee your going to want them if your going to get off the roads!! ) We will not be taking daily or weekend wheelhouses yet. Our paid seasonal customers will be going out first, and until I get them all on the ice, the rest will have to wait. Portable fishermen, I recommend a snowmobile. I watched portable guys with ATV’s struggle and most parked just off the road. We have a large parking area for rigs on shore. We will be checking ice depths daily and as it increases things will change.
Keep a Tight Line! Eddy
