Saturday was a busy one on the ice. With the nice weather a lot of portable fishermen showed up and with along with the wheelhouse anglers it was busy.

The bite varied depending on where you were, but overall most did pretty good. Our rentals mostly did well, One group didn’t have much luck, but they were not there much fishing either. In areas where there was a crowd, not so good, and if you worked around them our just stayed away from it. they did better.

And along with the crowd comes the fishermen that think they can go anywhere without checking the ice.. Here is a good example..we normally plow to the Banana Reef, have for 40 years,  (and will once the ice is thick enough and we bridge a pressure ridge in that area), anglers that have wanted to go out have listened to us and used ATV’s or snowmobiles.  Right now there is only 10 inches of ice in many areas out there, because the deep water in area of the “Tullibee Hole” froze 10-14 days later than the rest of the ice we are fishing. and is much thinner in spots.   So yesterday some of our customers on ATV’s were out there and three pickups from the west of our areas  drove over there to fish.  You would think that if in theses day of GPS someone would think that if there is no vehicles on a reef with only ATV’s fishing in that area, no roads, etc. that they would maybe check conditions, as there is a reason no vehicles were there yet.  Or maybe the resort they came out of should tell them to stay in areas they check and travel.

Look like we are going to get some snow or freezing rain ovenight tonight. so we will see how that goes.

Keep a Tight Line!!
