Yesterday’s fishing reports were pretty good.  Lots of pictures sent in and everyone seemed to have some activity.  But there was alot more people out there too.

I received numerous complements from wheelhouse customers on how we are doing things here this year with making them call ahead to get on the list and limit the amount of access to ensure the roads hold up with this years ice conditions. (Due to a pressure ridge on both roads we are limiting access to up to 3/4 trucks with tandem houses and no 1 tons or diesels.)  And what they really like is there opportunity to fish without being piled upon by others and having their own space.  Another thing that is working is that we close the access after dark for access. It is safer and fishermen out there don’t have to be bothered by someone that doesn’t know where they are going and waking up with a wheelhouse in their driveway. Obviously some don’t understand and just expect to do what ever they want because they don’t worry about anyone but themselves, but the greater majority like it.   It is working well so far and we will continue with it.  So for the rest of the season you will need to call ahead and save a spot.

The decision of setting the safe harvest at 150,000 lbs is so politically driven it stinks.  Governor Walz needs to step in and take a stand on this and actually do something instead of talk fast. If he doesn’t it’s because remember…. we are in the land of “rocks and cows”  and he will only talk to people that give him money like the Tribes do..  Minnesota’s Angler’s are getting screwed along with the businesses that are part of the fishery around Mille Lacs.   Yes I am upset and you should be too.  Remember who you vote for for next time….
