January 30th, 2019

This morning the temperature was -36 and the  NW winds at about 15.  Drifting has stopped, but the drifts are hard enough to drive over by the looks of it.  There is one more night of this weather ahead and we are going to remain closed until Thursday morning.  That will give me some time to get things checked out on the ice this afternoon and prep for tomorrow.

With winds chills forecasted tonight as cold if not colder than last evening it’s not worth going out there. We will be very busy the next couple days getting ready for the weekend and the warmer weather will bring fishermen.  With the warmup of the very cold ice there will be possible pressure ridge problems around the lake so fishermen will need to have a little patience and understanding of the situations that might occur.

Update- 4:30 pm.   Got things started on the ice this afternoon. Punched roads out for travel to Gravel, Graveyard, Tundra, Banana, Popes, and Gull Reefs.  Lots of areas blew clear. Looks like most wheelhouse traffic will be able to move around off the roads also.    🙂

Keep a Tight Line!    Eddy
