September 7th, 2023

This is my first post since April.  Alot has happened between then and now. We moved into our new home off the lake. (only a short golf cart ride away from the Ice Fishing on the same property).  I finished the upstairs of the new Barn/Office we used last season, held the first event there in July.  My 50th year class reunion.  and it went off without a hitch.

Still working on the new yard at our new home and planning to turn alot of it into a prairie style growth mainly for the bees. less to mow and nicer to see.  I  temporarily nicknamed our new home “Out to Pasture Acres”  basically because we started out in field with pine trees that were planted 20 some years ago.  lol!   But Cindy put the kibosh to that…    But it’s going to turn out pretty nice. when the yardwork is done.

Today I sent out the new rate sheets and letters to the permanent customers so if you read this and don’t receive it by the 15th of September give us a call.  I want to let all know that even though I’m semi-retired from the Marine business I owned, I’m and not going to stop running the Ice Fishing business or retire from that.  I grew up doing that and probably will have to be pried out of a truck some day..  it’s been in my blood too long.  I will be getting more help with things I’m sure, and I have someone in the works that has been here many years that most of you probably know to help start managing it this year.  So that will be good.  Change is hard for me, but it is inevitable and I have to start getting used to it.

I will be sending out letters and rate sheets to wheelhouse customers the first part of next week which will be a first for me.  With all the changes in that part of the Ice Fishing World and the new age group that are piling on the wheelhouse wagon, in my opinion, some businesses have let things get way out of hand during the “growth” period of wheelhouses of the last few years.  The disrespect among some ice fishing businesses is way out of line and actually shows disrespect to their customers by promising them something they shouldn’t.  All it does is cause trouble and worry for everyone involved.  Hopefully someday they will realize that plowing roads and serving your customers in the winter isn’t the same as driving a boat around and dropping anchor in the summer…  Maybe that will happen when Hell freezes over..  😉

Keep a Tight Line!
