December 11, 2018

Yesterday was a quite day for anglers. Not many out there.  The bite was good in the morning, but as the sun got higher the bite slowed until evening. The ice was fairly quiet with not much movement, but the temperatures have stayed fairly even both day and night the last couple days too.

The weather forecast for this week is not looking good for making much ice, so I am still undecided as to if I will be pulling any smaller houses out for the weekend yet or not.  Today I am going out and rechecking ice in areas we have already been and going to some more that we haven’t checked yet. I have always disliked this time of the season when things are so close to getting going, but just not enough ice to do it safely.  Fishermen are champing at the bit to get out there, you can see the days go by one by one with less income each day, you have bills to pay and want to get things going the other way in the checkbook. But when it comes down to it you choose safety over the rest.  It’s what you have to do.

Meanwhile anglers are welcome to come up and stay over in their houses on shore and portable, we have plenty of space for big wheelhouse rigs to park and portable. Smaller single axle wheelhouses, pulled by ATV’s can go out if they would like. And after checking the ice today, probably will be allowing side by side ATV’s also.  i will update the report this evening about that.

6:00pm. update…  Spent some time on the ice this afternoon.  Ice depths in areas we have been so far are between 11 and 12 inches.  Areas where I was worried about thinner ice were from 7- 8 inches.  So we will not be traveling there for awhile yet.  Going to wait for the weather forecast Wednesday evening before we decide to pull smaller rentals. For sure we will not be allowing vehicle traffic over the weekend. Just ATV, side by sides, snowmobiles. Until I know cold weather is coming, that is where we are going to be.

Keep a Tight Line!     Eddy
