Yesterday I spent most of the day in the truck cleaning up edges on roads so i did not get a chance to talk to fishermen as they left, but from what I heard from Cindy most went home happy. Some did better than others, some did poorly, but the majority were satisfied.  Alot of big Walleye C/R in the 25″to 29″ inch range and the highlight was a shallow water on Friday night.   This morning when the few that were out there left said that when the snow started with the SE wind the fishing died.

After looking at the forecast this afternoon I’ve decided to close our access until the drifting stops and we can get out there. Right now the wind has switched to the NW and is picking up speed.  I really don’t think we are going to get the 30-35 mph gusts they are predicting, but with the 2-3″ of “fluff” snow we got last night it will be little or no visibility for some time.  That along with the bottom falling out of the temps it is just best to wait.  The wind is supposed to get going full blast at daybreak tomorrow so I think by late afternoon we’ll be doing something, but the winds are not going to die down till late Tuesday night.  With -30 plus and 15 mph winds it will be cold no matter what.  We might just stay closed until Wednesday am.  I’ll decide tomorrow.

The weekend is looking good for temps, (almost too good) with a quick warm-up Friday-Saturday up into the 30’s I’ve heard.  Just imagine what the ice will do after being so cold for almost two weeks… when it warms up and expands something somewhere is going to give..

Right now we have no one on the ice out of our place and to be honest, it feels kinda good not having to worry about someone possibly having trouble….

Keep a Tight Line!     Eddy
